Chinese Philosophy on Life by Wang Keping

218c0u69uyl-_bo1204203200_In China, as is everywhere, Fu (happiness) is widely sought after, while Huo (Misfortune) is avoided at all costs. The concept of harmony is the Keystone within the Chinese philosophy of life. The book tells you of daily philosophical Chinese tradition and the meaning behind it, from the very words they use, to the deeper meaning it holds. There isn’t much to say other than that it delivers what its title says, much like other books relating. They tell ideas and lessons, that people who read can give more thought on. Any book on philosophy is unique, for they all tell an idea different; even if someone else before them have discussed. Do not read it all at once, read a single chapter and think on what you read. After thinking about it, read it over, until it makes sense to you person. I’d give it a 3.75 out of 5 because, it does its task, nothing more nothing less.

Thirteen Reasons Why? by Jay Asher

thirteenreasonswhy“You can’t stop the future you can’t rewind the past the only way to learn the secret is to press play.” (from Jay Asher’s 13 reasons why) 13 reasons why is about this girl who committed suicide and she leaves behind a series of tapes explaining the 13 reasons why she killed herself. This book reminds me of a book called “Before I Fall” it reminds of 13 reasons why because it is basically relaying the same message only this time it is from a different point of view. This book stands out because even though it is a fictional book it has such a real life, and emotional message that any and everyone who reads it will get. If you are a person who is very emotional take your time reading it because this book is like a roller coaster of emotions sometimes it will make you happy, sometimes it will make you sad, sometimes even mad,so if you have to put the book pause and resume reading when you feel up to it. I will give this book a 5 out of 5 stars. You should read this book it has a nice message in it.

Troy by Adele Geras

290090-_uy200_Do you like story’s that is filled with love and war and a hint drama and hate. Two sisters will try to live in a world of love and when Aphrodite is not a good person. It is almost like Rick Rordan but it is more about Aphrodite. This Greek book really happens in time but some of it is fake. Beware the drama and confusion with the characters because me personally I had a hard times with the names at first but when I got used to it I finally got all the names right with the characters. Then this book has drama for girls and blood and war for boys. This book I would give it a 5 because of the drama and confusion in it. It is for girls and boys that like drama and war.

Secrets in the Shadows by Anne Schraff

516gss5ddblHave you ever worried about so many things at one time? This book is about Roylin and he went out with this girl.He lied and told her he had a bunch of money, she wanted a very expensive necklace. Also one of his friends died and they tried to see if he was buried .He was not,he was gone. This book is like other Bluford Series books because they are all things that can really happen in reality. What makes this book so unique is people can relate to it a lot and you see how people feel. It wasn’t that interesting until the girl came to the school and that is where it really starts. I would give this book a 4 out of 5 .You should read this book if you worry about a lot of things.

The Perfect Shot by Elaine Marie

61zs2mitbjl“Mommy!” Corey cried, his voice high and panicky for the first time. With Basketball action, a murder mystery, a compelling story from history, racial and parental tension, Alphin offers something to please most young readers. Homeboys because it’s very funny and interesting and also an way to explain how some people life is or was. The thing that makes The Perfect Shot stand out is how it is a interesting mystery. You will probably find a book like this but not often because it’s a mystery and sports books. The thing that makes The Perfect Shot was just about someone make an important shot in a game, but it’s really about how this boy is playing basketball because of a bad memory. I would give this book 4 out of 5. You should read this book if you like sports and mystery books.

God Help the Child by Toni Morrison

god-help_g4eozf“I have no idea what occupied him when I was at the office and I never asked. I thought it showed how much I trusted him- that it was him I was attracted to him, not what he did.” (Morrison, 62) In different point of views, God Help the Child tells the story Lula Ann trying to adjust between the present and her past. God Help the Child reminds me of Midnight: A Gangster Love Story by Sister Souljah because the main characters find ways to live through their problems. What makes God Help the Child so special is the fact that it captivates you from the very beginning. It gives you an issue and then flashbacks to show you what little things shape the truth. In God Help the Child, be mindful of the setting and the author’s choice of words. I would give this book 5 out of 5 stars. You should read this if you like dram and urban fiction.
