Mercy Thompson: Moon Called by Patricia Briggs

71811A mechanic, werewolf and vampire work together to fight mystical creatures. Through many battles, Mercy Thompson: Moon Called, tells the story of Mercy Thompson and Adam Hauptman learning to love each other for who they are. The thing that makes Mercy Thompson: Moon Called unique is how captivating it is. You wouldn’t expect these things to happen to her. Be open-minded and gentle with some topics that are discussed in the book. It will take you on a journey but make sure to enjoy it most of all. I would give Mercy Thompson: Moon Called 5 out of 5 stars. You should read this book if you like mystery and drama.

It does start out slow, It has an odd pace. Just have patience and read it whenever you have a hunger for it. Don’t try to force yourself to read more than you want. The anticipation is worth it. Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer

artemis-fowl-book-1-cover“I want you to know, my dear friend that without you, i would not be the person I am today, i was a broken boy,and you fixed me.
Thank you.” (From Eoin Colfer’s Artemis Fowl Artemis Fowl tells a story about this smart young boy whose life will change when finds out the truth of the creatures who live right under his very feet. Artemis Fowl reminds me of Jimmy Neutron because just like in the book both Artemis Fowl and Jimmy Neutron are Geniuses and they both go on these amazing adventures. The thing that makes Artemis Fowl stand out is the emotion that is in this book unlike other books this book will make you feel happy, sad and excited all in one book. I think that Artemis Fowl is a very interesting book, the story line is amazing and you will get hooked on reading this book fast it is a real page turner. I would give this book a 4 out of 5 stars you should read this book if you are into mythological creatures such as leprechaun’s elves and so forth.

SteelHeart by Brandon Sanderson

20342545Would you want to kill superheroes? A boy named David Charlestone wants revenge on Steelheart. David is looking to get help from a group called The Reckoners. They are a shadowy group of rebels bent on maintaining justice. The Reckoners might even need Davids help to. This book is unique in the way that it presents the conflict of the story. Some ways to deal with them with by presenting weaknesses. It has some slow parts and can be very intriguing stay with the book. My rating for this book would be a 4/5 stars.

The Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

77493_originalThe Mystical land of Prythian is a place where no mortal can step foot without being stuck there forever, at the mercy of the ruthless faeries. Feyre is a poor human girl who is the sole supporter of herself, her two sisters, and her crippled father. She hunts for food since they don’t have money to buy it, and in winter food is scarce. But her whole life changes when she kills a wolf who turns out to be a faerie in disguise and one of the elite high fae come to take her to Prythian as punishment for her crimes. Most YA books with female protagonists, the main character spends half the time fawning over some hot guy and I feel like that really takes away from the character. And. while there is romance, Feyre isn’t much like her fellow female protagonists. She can handle herself and knows when to say no and when to get out of bad relationships. At first the book seems pretty cheesy and melodramatic about seemingly stupid things, but as you read the book and get further into the story, things start to make more sense and it’s not as cheesy and cringy. I would give A Court of Thorns and Roses 4.5 out of 5 stars. You should read this book if you like romance or Sci-Fi books.

Ninth Ward by Jewell Parker Rhodes

ninth-wardA hurricane will rise up. Will Lanesha family survive? In New Orleans Ninth Ward, twelve year old Lanesha, who can see spirits, and her adopted grandmother have no choice but to say whether the storm or hurricane Katrina bears down upon them. The Ninth Ward reminds me of, I Survive. The thing that makes The Ninth Ward stand out is sad they were, and how much they didn’t give up on themselves from drowning. I thought The Ninth Ward started out a little slow because the author put a lot of background about Lanesha, and TaShon family, but once they got into what Lanesha and TaShon not giving up. I would give this book 4 out of 5 stars. You should read this book if you like adventure.

The Child Thief by Brom

brom ” Peter stood up and let a wicked smile slide across his face.”Time to play.”” “The Child Thief” gives a modern twist on the story of Peter Pan. Peter leaves his Neverland to bring back kids to train, and use as weapons for his battle against Captain Hook.”The Child Thief” reminds me of Grimm Fairy Tales because of the dark twist on the well known Disney retelling. The thing that makes The Child Thief stand out is art shown between this Peter Pan and the Disney Peter Pan. To read this book, you would have to give it your full attention because there are a lot of twists and turns thrown at the reader. I would give this book 5 out of 5 stars. You should read this book if you like Fairy tales with a twist.
