Have you ever wanted to be popular? Fit in to be one of the “cool kids”? In Jeff Kinney’s “Diary of A Wimpy Kid” Greg is an ordinary kid who’s tired of being lame and wants to become a cool guy. But at home his family wants him to be this kid he doesn’t want to be. What’s unique about this book is that is realistic. Anyone who reads this book, I recommend you read all of the other sequences. I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.
Have you ever been overweight in high school? Unpopular in high school? Imagine that. In this book the main character, Butter, was an unpopular overweight high school kid with no friends. Butter believes he has nothing else to live for so one night he creates a website and announces his plan to eat himself to death live on the Internet! He gets an unexpected reaction: he begins to gain popularity at school and the popular kids invite him to school events and out for Saturdays nights. It felt good to finally have “friends,” so good he started to not want to kill himself, the thing that gained him popularity in the first place. He starts to think, if he didn’t do it would he still be popular or would he go back to the nobody he was before? This book reminds me of The Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Greg has problems with fitting in and so does Butter. One thing that’s unique about this book is that it is about a boy wanting to kill himself because he is unpopular but in a twist it is also very funny. You would expect him to be sad every moment but he had more funny moments then you would think. When you start reading this book you won’t want to put it down; it’s a real page turner. I would give this book 5 out of 5 stars. If you like books that make you laugh, cry, and have you on the edge of your seat this would be the book for you.
